Sales Answers

Do I get the original Windows DVD & other discs?

Every custom built PC comes with original CDs, manuals, cables for all the components used to assemble the PC. If an Operating System is purchased the original CD/DVD is supplied, not a recovery CD as supplied by some manufacturers.

Back to Questions

What brands are used?

We only use major branded parts from reliable brands in all our custom built PC's. When choosing a system we specify where possible the brand being used for some components, such as hard drive we don't state the make and model as this varies depending on the current stock. Hard drive brands we use can be either Maxtor, Seagate or Samsung, the prices and stock availability fluctuate regularly, therefore we cannot stick to one make or guarantee that a certain brand will be used.

Back to Questions

Back to Questions

Your computers are really cheap. Does this mean that they wont perform as well as an expensive one?

Our computers are cheap because we don't over price them & we buy in bulk. You will find that we only use major brands and all the latest components. No corners cut means you get the lowest possible price and the best computer on the planet!

Back to Questions

Why should I order through Computer Planet instead of a larger company like Dell?

We have one thing Dell can never have: extremely responsive and extensive customer service. Our average response time support emails is under one hour, and it is not uncommon for us to exchange lots ofemails with a customer before they purchase. All our systems are custom built and and designed by you. You only pay for the parts you want unlike a major branded system which has parts you will pay for but never use. We only use major branded parts such as Asus & Cooler Master where as most branded companies like Dell will use unbranded parts.

Back to Questions

What compound do you use on the CPU ?

We use the recommended compound which is provided by the manufacturer for the CPU cooler. If you require something different please contact us.

What is the difference between 32 BIT and 64 BIT Windows?

We recommend buying an operating system with your PC. All operating systems come pre installed and have the latest updates and patches installed. Simply turn the PC on and your away!

If you are not sure which operating system to select we recommend Windows 7 Home Premium 64 BIT.

The following versions are 32 BIT and will support a maximum amount of memory 3.2 GB. By having 32 BIT system you will have less driver problems and more support for software titles as 64 BIT is still very new and not all programs/hardware is 64 BIT ready but you will be limited to 3.2 GB RAM when using 4 GB or more.

Windows XP Home 32 BIT
Windows XP Pro 32 BIT
Windows 7 Home Premium 32 BIT
Windows 7 Pro 32 BIT
Windows 7 Ultimate 32 BIT

The following operating systems support 64 BIT and will run over 4 GB RAM. 64 BIT will run 32 BIT programs but not all 32 BIT programs will work correctly. If you have a lot of older software titles we would advise going with 32 BIT. If you use new titles such as any Adobe product these are all available on 64 BIT mode and you would be better going with the 64 BIT system.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 BIT
Windows 7 Pro 64 BIT
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 BIT

Back to Questions

Will a 64 BIT CPU work with a 32 BIT operating system?

All CPU's we sell are 64 BIT but they can also run at 32 BIT so if you choose a 32 BIT operating system your CPU will run at 32 BIT which is perfectly fine.

Our system automatically creates a VAT invoice in your account available to download once the PC has been shipped out.

Back to Questions

I live outside the UK can I claim the VAT back?

If you live in a VAT exempt country or have a European VAT number we can provide you with the product free of VAT, saving you 20% Please note this is only applicable if we export the product outside of the UK. Our standard policy is to take payment in full and then refund the VAT upon despatch of the PC.

Back to Questions

Do you offer finance services?

Regrettably, no. We have found that interest rates would not be competitive, so we have not pursued this option.

We do take all major credit, debit cards, paypal and bank transfers for payment in one amount.

Warranty/Support Answers

What warranties do your computers have?

All systems come with at least 1 years warranty with the first month free collect & return. We offer a range of packages giving you warranty cover up to 3 years.

Back to Questions

Will I void my warranty by opening the case?

We allow you to open your case and add new parts, but by doing this you agree that any damage you may cause to the system cannot be covered under the warranty. So if you open your case, add a new hard drive and 4 months down the line you need to make a warrant claim you can and you will be covered but if you open the case, add a hard drive and snap the motherboard while doing it we cannot cover this under the warranty. If you are unsure or have any questions please email sales@computerplanet.co.uk

Back to Questions

Do you offer warranty outside the UK?

Our warranty service covers mainland UK only. If you are buying a PC from us outside the UK and need to claim on the warranty you will be required to pay the costs of shipping the PC to us and the cost of shipping the PC back to you. Selected component manufacturers offer global warranty which allows you to obtain a replacement part from the country you are in. This is only available on selected parts and you must deal directly with the component manufacture in your country.
