Which Wireless Card For My Custom Built PC?
When you create a gaming PC or custom PC at Computer Planet, it’s imperative to choose the best board for networking. This can come either in the form of an Ethernet(wired) that is broadband ready, or it can be in the form of an USB, PCI or PCI-E, depending on the situation.
We are offering you both PCI and PCI-E wireless networking cards, and you will be the one to choose which one you need, because depending on the motherboard type you have, you can choose either one or the other.
You can opt for either an internal or external, it’s up to you, but most people prefer an internal one because it might be a little inconvenient to have an external card laying around near your computer.
In the networking offer of Computer Planet you can find an USB dongle, because there are some people that do want to keep the internal ports free. If you don’t have any space PCI or PCI-E ports, then purchasing the USB dongle is your only option unless you want to upgrade the motherboard to one which has more ports.
The difference between the 150MBPS, 300 MBPS and 600 MBPS models is that they do offer support for the aforementioned speeds, but the wireless cards won’t make your internet connection faster than a 150MBPS card, even if you purchase a 600 MBPS one. Your web connection is limited based on the speed that is offered by your provider, so no matter the model you purchase, you won’t be able to increase that.
Our most popular network card is the 300 Mbps PCI-Express. For gaming PCs that are playing games online we recommend where possible to use Ethernet (wired) rather than Wireless. If you still need help you can contact our technical team for advice.
